Hobbies- Music: alma is a trained musician and has spent 7 years playing the clarinet in symphonic band. She has transitioned into vocal tranining and is currently studying voice technique and musicianship at California State University,Sacramento. Alma enjoys being a Psalmist (Salmista) in her congregation and feels truly blessed to sing the word of God and share the love of his word through music. Alma partners up with family members to create music and enjoys the bond that music creates throughout time and generations.
- Dancing: alma has received formal training in Mexican Folkloric Dancing and enjoys dancing to the regional states of Michoacan, Jalisco, Vera Cruz, Sinaloa, Norte, and D.F. Alma began dancing at a very young age and received dance instruction from her parents in cumbia, banda, and norteña. She has been enlightened with a sense of rhythm in bahcata, merengue, reggeaton, hip-hop, house, and the hyphe movement from her siblings. She is currently continuing to expand her knowledge and love of dancing by learning Salsa at Salsa Loca Club (www.salsalocaclub.com) at California State Universtiy, Sacramento and participating in an occasional dance lesson at Azukar.
- Writing: alma enjoys the simple expression of the written word. She has previously written short stories and poems, one of which was published in the Young Authors Anthology for the FSUSD school district. She finds that her ability to express herself most fully has come across in ink on a blank page. She enjoys the senseless chatter of her mind as it comes across through free writing until it eventually defines the true meaning of her thoughts and gives her a true sense of direction.
